Sit, relax and enjoy:
The beginning//
After a few years of traveling in southeast Asia and Australia I came over to Mallorca for work. The plan was to make money for my next big adventure trip. This was three years ago and now I call Mallorca my home. It was not until one year ago that I found out about surfing in Mallorca. What a big surprise that was to me. When I was out for a beach walk, I saw a few guys ripping waves, I grabbed my camera and took some wide-angle shots and posted them on Instagram. Straight away a local surfer contacted me and asked me to come over for another session. A whole new world opened to me.
Dedication and flexibility//
Yes, there is surf on Mallorca, some days even there is epic surf. But Surfing in Mallorca comes with big challenges. The conditions are anything but consistent. So, you better have a flexible schedule and be prepared and ready to drop everything for a quality wave. That’s why I respect the surf scene so much in Mallorca. A lot of the guys out here are working their asses off all summer so they can have the winter off to focus instead on the much better swells and surf that is given in winter.
Dawn Patrol//
When the forecast predicts solid swell in on the way, you will talk about it for days with your mates and decide what are the best potential spots to go to. Getting already stoked and hoping for nothing to change in a negative way. When the day arrives, alarms go off early in the morning and Dawn Patrol is on. Sometimes it takes checking three spots before you find the wave that is actually working well under the conditions and sometimes you find nothing. But never disappointed this is all part of the adventure.
When everything comes together//
The day has arrived swell is good and there is a nice offshore breeze. We are welcomed with a nice sunrise and a temperature of 17C on shore and 13C in the water. This day is about surfing till your muscles are sore, till you can’t feel your legs, arms and face. This day is about having fun with your surfing mates in the best play ground of planet earth: The Ocean!
Today is about making history, today is all or nothing.
