How It All Started

RSPro began far from the ocean — in the motorcycle industry. Founder Carles Carrera, a mechanical engineer and project manager at Derbi, Piaggio Group, spent years leading the development of new motorcycles. At the turn of the 2010s, he discovered Stand Up Paddle and quickly became hooked. But there was one issue: every session left paddle marks on his brand-new board — a problem he couldn’t ignore as an engineer.

One day, the decorative and technical sticker supplier for motorcycles, knowing Carles’s passion for watersports, showed him a new material developed for kitesurfing applications — or so they said.

But Carles saw something different. With a few engineering tweaks, that same material could solve the problem he was facing: the chips and scratches on the rails of his SUP board.

Together, they adapted it into a semi-rigid 380-micron polymer — tough yet flexible — to protect SUP rails. He tested it himself, built a (truly awful) website to see if anyone else wanted it, and word spread fast.

That first rail protector became Rail Saver Pro, and on the first day, the first sale came in.

RSPro® was born — out of rider obsession and real engineering.
