Why We Temporarily Paused Direct Shipping to the US

Carles Carrera

A note to our US riders.

We have always had a strong connection with riders in the United States.

SUP racers, foil riders, surfers, paddlers, board builders, repair shops and gear obsessives. Some of the most demanding users of RSPro products are in the US, and we know how much people care about protecting expensive equipment properly.

So when we temporarily paused direct shipping from our online store to the US, it was not because we wanted to step away from that market.

It was the opposite.

We paused because the shipping experience had become too unpredictable, and we did not want US customers to get surprised after placing an order.

The product was not the problem

Our products did not change.

The same RSPro rail savers, surf protection, foil protection, paddle accessories and traction products are still made with the same purpose: to protect boards, paddles and equipment from the kind of damage that happens in real use.

Paddle strikes. Transport marks. Board racks. Dock hits. Storage knocks. Small dings that start as nothing and slowly make good gear look tired.

That part is simple.

The problem was the route from our workshop to your door.

What changed

International shipping to the US became more complex.

Customs requirements changed. Duties, import handling and clearance procedures became less predictable. Carriers needed more detailed commercial invoice data. Some shipments that used to move smoothly became harder to quote, harder to clear, or more likely to generate extra costs after the customer had already paid.

For a large company, that may be just another logistics adjustment.

For a small manufacturer like RSPro, it matters.

Because when a customer buys a rail saver, paddle grip or surf protection, they are not trying to become a customs expert. They just want the right product, delivered properly, with no ugly surprise at the end.

That is the part we could not ignore.

We did not want to keep taking orders blindly

We could have kept the US checkout open and let every order go through.

That would have been easy in the short term.

But it would not have been fair if the final cost, delivery time or import handling changed after the order had already been placed.

We would rather pause, fix the process and communicate clearly than keep selling into uncertainty.

That is not the fastest commercial decision.

But it is the right one.

What we changed on our side

During this pause, we worked on the boring but important details.

Commercial invoices are now clearer. Product-level HS codes are shown line by line. Manufacturer information is included. Country of origin is stated properly. The final use of the goods is described more clearly for customs.

These details do not make a good Instagram post.

But they matter when a parcel crosses a border.

Good product design is not only about what happens on the water. It is also about making sure the customer gets the right product in the right way, with the least possible friction.

How US riders can still buy RSPro

For now, the best option for US customers is to buy through our official US distributor:

North Shore Watersports Inc

They are closer to US riders, they can handle local availability better, and they help avoid the customs surprises that can happen with small direct international shipments.

If you are in the US and you are not sure where to buy, contact us and we will point you in the right direction.

Find RSPro distributors or contact RSPro.

Will direct US shipping come back?

Yes, that is the goal.

We want to reopen direct US shipping when we can do it properly.

That means the total cost needs to be clearer. The customs process needs to be more predictable. The documentation needs to work consistently. And most important, the customer experience needs to feel fair.

Until then, we prefer to be transparent.

We are not avoiding the US.

We are taking care of the way we serve it.

Thank you for your patience

To every US rider who has used RSPro, recommended it, installed it on a new board, protected a race board before a season, or trusted it on expensive gear: thank you.

We know this temporary pause is inconvenient.

But the reason is simple.

We would rather protect the customer experience than push orders into a system that is not clear enough yet.

That is the same thinking behind our products.

Protect it before it becomes a problem.
